The Molecular Psychiatry Lab at the Department of Psychiatry has an open PhD student position in behavioral neuroscience Ref.: 4271 which is initially available for 2 years starting 2010-11-01. Part-time employed with 50 % of the regular weekly working time Salary based on civil service salary scale TV-L E13 Our lab studies the influence of pre- and postnatal environmental factors on behavioral ontogeny in the mouse as well as the underlying morphological and molecular neural alterations. In this project we want to study the influence of different environmental factors such as prenatal immune stimulation or chronic stress on the development of schizophrenia-like behavioral deficits (e.g. reduced social interaction, reduced prepulse inhibition, increased response to psychotomimetic substances, disturbed working memory) and associated neuroplastic processes in mouse models. We are looking for a highly motivated student able to work independently and in a team. Experience in mouse behavioral testing is required. Experience in immunohistochemical, biochemical or molecular techniques is of advantage. Diploma or Masters in Biology or related areas is required.
