The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 2,100 employees, we operate an extensive
scientific program in the field of cancer research. The Division of Molecular RNA Biology & Cancer (Kst.B150) is seeking a Graduate PhD Student (Ref-No. 110/2010) Description: The research group Molecular RNA Biology & Cancer at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a graduate student interested in microRNA and non-coding RNA biology and its connection to cancer. Our young and motivated team studies mechanisms of microRNA biogenesis, their regulation in normal cells and dysregulation in cancer. In addition, we analyze the expression, regulation, interaction networks and function of larger non-coding RNAs. We have screened expression profiles of non-coding RNAs in breast, lung and liver cancer and found many examples of highly significant expression differences in tumor samples as well as tumor cell lines as a model system for the functional characterization of the hits. In this PhD project, we use methods of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry to characterize the novel non-coding RNAs, their expression and regulation patterns as well as to elucidate their cellular and molecular function in normal and cancer cells. Your profile: The successful candidate should be highly motivated, work efficiently and have a deep interest in RNA biology or cancer research. Applications should hold an above-average Diplom or Master`s degree in biochemistry, biology or closely related fields. Experience with basic methods of molecular and cellular biology as well as tissue culture and proficiency in English are required. Please send a complete application including cover letter, reference number, CV, graded reports and contact information for two or three references via the DKFZ online application system. The position is initially limited until December 31, 2013. For further information please contact Mr. Dr. Sven Diederichs, phone 06221 42-4390. The German Cancer Research Center is committed to increase the percentage of female scientists and encourages female applicants to apply. Among candidates of equal aptitude and qualifications, a person with disabilities will be given preference. Please send your application to Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum Personalabteilung Im Neuenheimer Feld 280 D-69120 Heidelberg Or apply preferably online: www.dkfz.de ---------------------------------------------------------------- Von: Anne Chukwuma Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist gegen Spambots geschützt!
